William The Conquerer

Although he didn't speak English and was illiterate, William the Conquerer had more influence on England than almost anybody else. Despite his French roots, he was crowned King of England in 1066. He ruled over England and married Queen Matilda. He was one of the most successful and effective leaders England has ever had.
William II of England

The son of William the Conquerer, William II (a.k.a. William Rufus) left off where his father ended. He ruled over England, but was not as effective as his father was. William II was the Third son of William the conquerer, and his 3rd favorite. He gave most of his inheritance to his favorite son, Robert Curthose
Henry I of England

Henry I was the fouth and youngest son of William the Conquerer. By the time he was old enough to rule, 2 of his older brothers had died. Since William II had died in a hunting accident, he saw his chance while Robert Curthose was out on a crusade, Henry I crowned himself and gained support. He was able to capture Robert and held him as a prisoner for life.
King Harold II

Harold II was born in the 1020's. He rose through the ranks and became the second-most powerful man in England. Second to only the King, who had no children. When the King Edward died in 1066, Harold took control. However, when Harold fought William the Conquerer in the Battle of Hastings in 1066, he was defeated and killed.
Empress Matilda

Queen Matilda was the daughter of King Henry I of England, and the Granddaughter of William the Conquerer. She got married to King Henry V, and when he died, her father married her off again. Queen Matilda was nominated by her father to be the next heir to the throne, but Stephen of Blois claimed that he changed his mind and nominated him instead. A civil war followed, and Stephen came out on top.
